Refresher First Aid takes one day; it can cater for up to 10 participants and will re-certify Occupational First Aiders for a further two years in accordance with the latest guidelines.
Course content is set out by the Health and Safety Authority in association with the Occupational First Aid Asssessment Agent. The course is recognised by FETAC at level 5 and will allow candidates to continue to meet the required standard for first aid in the workplace.
The emphasis in this course is on reminding candidates of the essential first aid skills and bringing candidates up to date with the latest first aid guidelines.
Each course includes a First Aid Manual for all participants.
:: Aimed At
If you have a previous Occupational First Aid Certificate that is about to expire, or has just expired, you should not hesitate to renew it.
:: Course Objective
This is a very interactive course, which draws on the candidate's own experience where possible, ensuring the training they receive is practical, realistic and relevant. The emphasis in this course is on learning the essential skills and giving candidates the confidence to use these in a real situation.

Candidates can expect to learn about:
‹ Circulation, Wounds and Bleeding
‹ Respiration, Asphyxia
‹ Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
‹ Use of an Automated External Defibrillator
‹ Choking
‹ Heart Conditions
:: Planned Outcome
Candidates will be assessed during the course, and the day concludes with a written examination, testing their knowledge of the course topics and the correct application of the practical skills learned on the course such as CPR or Choking.
:: Certification Details
On successful completion of the course, each participant will receive a FETAC level 5 certification of qualification allowing them to act as first aiders in their workplace. This also fully certifies them in the use of an Automated External Defibrillator. Certificates are valid for two years and are recognised by the relevant authorities, including the Health and Safety Authority.
